Course Selection for CURRENT GHS Students
Student Registration Packet
Each student will receive the following information during their English classes:
**Students who have not earned the required number of credits to be promoted to the next grade level will receive a course card for the current grade level. Student homerooms/grade levels reflect the number of required credits that the student has earned.

For rising 11th grade students, email Dr. Willingham.
For rising 12th grade students, email Ms. Odom.
For ALL IB students, email Ms. Morris.
(Students entering 9th grade in 2009 or later)
English (9, 10, 11, 12) 4 credits
Math* 4 credits
Algebra I (1), Geometry (1), Algebra II (1) and one other Math course
Science* 3 credits
Biology I (1), Chemistry (1),and one other Lab Science course
Social Studies 3 ½ credits
World History/Geography (1)US History (1), and Personal Finance (1/2) US Gov’t (1/2), Economics (1/2)
Health 1 ½ credits
Lifetime Wellness (1) and Physical Education (1/2)
Fine Arts 1 credit
Foreign Language* 2 credits
Must be in the same language
Elective Focus (in same career area) 3 credits
Total of 22 credits
*COURSES TAKEN IN 8TH GRADE FOR HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT COUNT AS ELECTIVES ONLY.
Algebra I does not count as the first math credit - students must take 4 years of math WHILE in high school.
Physical science does not count as the first science credit - students must take 3 years of science WHILE in high school.
Students who took French I or Spanish I in 8th grade must continue through French III or Spanish III once they are in high school.
Germantown High School
Students must also take the ACT in order to graduate from a Tennessee Public High School! The ACT is offered during the Junior Year to all students in the 11th grade. Students must be on grade level in order to be allowed to take the test.
Students must also take a Civics test in order to graduate.
